Green Socialist Notes Mission Statement

Educate. Agitate. Organize.

These are the founding principles for Green Socialist Notes, a new periodical publication by the Green Socialist Organizing Project (GSOP). GSOP is made up of members of the Green Party of the United States that wish to see the party, and the global Green movement, take an uncompromising anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, ecological leftist viewpoint on current events and organizing strategy. Drawing from social ecology and eco-socialist thought, this publication seeks to:

Educate by publishing both introductory “outline” articles for new members as well as “deep dives” into important, complex, nuanced issues facing our communities and our planet. The pieces will explore the philosophy of an ecological ethics, the history of the Left in the US and lessons we can learn and apply to the present, and what an ecological socialist praxis looks like, among other topics.

Agitate by publishing radical critiques on current events, speaking truth to power, and highlighting the good work done by Green organizers today, in hopes we may learn from each other and coordinate our agitation actions for greater effect and victory.

Organize by publishing advice and guides to help inspire YOU and communities across the United States to join together and organize their own Green Parties. We believe only a bottom-up, grassroots movement can succeed, therefore our focus is on empowering communities with information, suggestions, and solidarity, rather than top-down control.

With climate change, poverty, and imperialism bearing down on us, we may have only a decade left to make serious change and reverse course from existential ecological crisis. This publication is one of many ways we will make the most of this decade and fight.

In solidarity!
